Ryū - Japanese Dragon: Arts & Crafts

In Japan, Ryū, known as 龍, are legendary creatures that are long, serpent-like and powerful. Different to western dragons, Ryū are seen as water deities and are closely related to the oceans and the weather. They are generally seen as benevolent creatures, but some Ryū in Japanese mythology are known to be cruel and destructive. Like the ocean or the weather, Ryū are unpredictable and should be respected in all their forms.

In the Japanese lunar calendar, 2024 marks the year of the Dragon. To celebrate, I have decided to focus much of my art on Ryū related pieces. Click on the posts below for more information. If you would like to adopt one (or more), please fill out the form below with the name of the piece you'd like to take home!
