Ojizō-san: Pumice Statues

In Japan, Kṣitigarbha, known as 地蔵菩薩, (Jizō or respectfully as Ojizō-san), is one of the most beloved Bodhisattva, (菩薩 or Bosatsu), in Japanese Buddhism. Stone statues  of Ojizō-bosatsu are a common sight in Japan and are seen as healing protectors of children, travellers and the sick. I have created a number of Jizō statues out of locally sourced pumice. Click on the posts below for more information, as every Jizō are individual. If you would like to adopt one (or more), please fill out the form below with the name of the Jizō you'd like to take home!

オン カカカ ビサンマエイ ソワカ
Om ka ka kabisan ma-e sowaka
Om Ha Ha Ha, Wondrous One, Hail!

- Mantra of Ojizō-bosatsu.
