Suiboku-ga: Sumi-e Art & Calligraphy

In Japan, Suiboku-ga, known as 水墨画, is the art of ink painting. It is also known in the west as Sumi-e, (墨絵), and is the embodiment of Japanese aesthetics. Using just simple black ink, carefully curated white space and a control over water, suiboku-ga captures the timeless beauty and complexity of the natural world.

I also use sumi to create Calligraphy pieces in Kanji, known as 漢字. I write important words or phrases in Japanese to inspire deep thought and meditation. These pieces can be hung throughout the house, or where ever you feel they will make the most impact in your daily life. Click on the posts below for more information, as every piece is individual. If you would like to adopt one (or more), please fill out the form below with the name of the pieces you'd like to take home!
